I have just made two tea chests designed by Doug Stowe ( usa) . the finished boxes look beautiful when fitted with your high quality butt hinges. I use these all the time on jewelry/keepsake/cigar boxes I make. Fine Woodworking has an article online that shows you how to make a jig to route mortises for these JB-101 hinges. They are strong enough to use only two on a box 12″x6″x3″. Nothing like solid brass hinges, and well worth the price.
In my hardware stash I have a one of a pair of small brass ball catches from a project way back in the 20th Century. I needed one for an anniversary gift and wanted top quality hardware. Back then, you got the best from Larry and Faye Brusso. Even though the packaging is showing its age, the Brusso hardware in it is still the best. I’ve purchased several Brusso hinges over the years and will always use Brusso for my best work. It doesn’t matter if the hinge is a JB-101 or a larger model, they remain the best available. Use cheaper hardware for your seconds and rejects but use Brusso for the work you take pride in.

These hinges are far and away the best quality and value I could find. They are finely constructed and have a very solid stop with no play. There are cheaper hinges, but they will not compare to these. If you are putting in the hours of labor to craft something beautiful, these are the only hinges that make sense.
Hinges were perfect! Customer service was even better – even though I missed the sale deadline by about 12 hours, they gave me the sale price anyway. Merry Christmas to Brusso and I hope 2018 will be even better for them.

You need Brusso hinges. There is no comparing them to hinges you are buying in the big box stores. They just feel better, they look better on your project, and they will last
Brusso hinges are the highest quality that I’ve come across. I do have two quibbles. I bought the stop hinges and I don’t like that the barrel has to stick way out past the back of the box. Also, the screws that they include with the hinges are not as nice as the hinges themselves. I don’t use the screws that come with the hinges, I buy flat head slotted screws that have a bit more heft than the ones that they include. That said, I still think they are the best box hinges available.

I predrill, pre-thread with the steel screw, and lube the screws, but still get at least 1 or 2 where the head gets stripped. I appreciate that Brusso includes a couple of extra screws just for this reason. It’s just a shame they have to.

Their hinges are very high-quality unfortunately their hardware isn’t it would be my opinion that they go with a flat head screws instead of the Phillips I think this would help greatly with the stripping out of the screw head
Excellent quality of the hinges and the templates. Nothing beats them. Might I suggest you offer vix bits that should be used with each screw,(tapered bits for hardwoods) This would help a great deal. Would you also sell additional screws?
Crisp and Exact. I’ve used half a dozen pairs of these hinges (and several other Brusso hinges), and your workmanship had better be to the exacting standards of the hinges. Make sure you have the hinges, set up jigs, and try practice pieces-all before you start.
I make small keepsake boxes and spend a lot of time making sure each box is as near perfect as possible. With all this effort it only makes sense to put the best hardware. I find the Brusso stop hinges to be the very best small box hardware .
These are the highest quality hinges I have ever worked with, extremely well made, and the templace for routing the mortises works beautifully. These are perfect for jewelry boxes and any other small boxes. Pricey, but you have to pay for quality, and these are definitely worth the cost. These are tops!
These are beautiful hinges, and greatly enhance the look and feel of all my marquetry boxes. The highly consistent dimensions from piece to piece make these a pleasure to work with. As they are the smallest hinges in this Brusso series, it is critical that you predrill and use a steel screw to ease the way for the fragile brass ones, particularly in very hard woods. I have yet to find any stop hinges which even come close to matching these for performance.
