This hinge justifies the expense from the moment you open it. Exceptionally crafted and exact. I used it on a Shaker lap desk for my son and it is the only metal on the whole project. It is a perfect accent and the look is only superceded by its functionality. I would only use it in key projects because of the cost, but for special projects it us worth every penny.

Yes this stuff is amazingly expensive so lets get that out of the way first.
You get over the price eventually but I am not getting over how glad I am I bought this stuff as the quality level is off the charts relative to pretty much every other hinge you will buy.
There is nothing quite like the feeling you get when you swing a door on a high quality hinge. It is the difference between a box that is beautiful but seems cheesy for some reason and a box that is beautiful and clearly made by a master craftsman.
You may not think these are worth the money but you will absolutely not be disappointed in how they work. I will be buying this stuff for a long time to come…

Quality hardware but is difficult with hard woods such as Bubinga (Junks hardness of 2410). The steel screw may become broken in the wood if not careful. I am thankful that Brusso sent me replacement screws.

the product is fine; however, I am an amateur woodworker and don’t install mortised hinges very often; I had no idea the steel screw was meant for creating a pilot hole so I drilled pilot holes instead, which was a pain; worse , the brass screws strip very easily and once they strip you are really stuck, you pretty much cannot get them out without ruining the project; i wish a little note had come with the hinges to tell you what the steel screw was for, and i wish the brass screws were more substantial

These are superb quality hinges, but the brass screws are far below any acceptable standard of quality. I tried with 2-3 screws into hardwood with pilot holes, and the heads sheared off with the slightest torque, causing me to need to dig them out and patch the damage. At this price, Brusso should spend a few more cents per screw and improve the quality.
